Updated August 25 2008, updated May 29 2010 post war pictures added.
My main source for this article came from this site: http://www.atlantikwall.info/radar/belgian/rb_.htm
The following radar equipment was installed
here:
2X FuSE 65 Würzburg-Riese and probably
a Freya.
With permission of the land owner, I visited
the site and found the two FuSE 65 socles and probably also the socle of
the Freya radar.
Interesting to know is that there were
two FuSE 65 installed, one for guiding the German fighter plane and one
for following the enemy plane.
Example
of a Würzburg-Riese FuSE 65
Google Earth and NGI map with the locations. Clicking the Google Earth picture will start the Google Earth application if it has been installed.
German
'Luftwaffen stellungen' with location of Goldammer.
Overview
of the Würzburg socles and brick building.
Würzburg socle(sok1)
Post war picture of the two destroyed Würzburg-Riese FuSE 65. The building has also disappeared.
The brick building
The brick building with original door in place, it was made of wood but is in a terrible state.
The building can't be entered, it is locked but through the windows you have a clear view. The inner walls are gone. There were probably 5 rooms.
Second Würzburg socle(sok2)
Is this the basement of the Freya Radar ? (private ground, isn't on the map)
